Driver faces heat for confessing that she doesn't like walkable cities: 'I NEED car time or else I wither away'

Despite being a lifelong passenger princess and a lover of walking places, I can see the appeal of having a car from time to time. It can give you a sense of personal freedom that few other possessions are capable of, and unless you live somewhere with excellent public transport, it is probably a necessity.

However, there is also no denying the horrible effects that widespread car ownership has on the environment and some would argue on our culture, too. It's no bad thing to walk more or catch a train where we're able, which is why one woman faced a thorough roasting after claiming she didn't like walkable cities. Insisting that she preferred it when destinations were far apart and that she liked having a private place to store things, sing, and cry, advocators of walking were none too impressed by her argument. It does seem like she has an unhealthy attachment to her vehicle.
